The police rescued 20 bovine animals being smuggled to Kashmir via Mughal Road in Thanamandi area of district Rajouri.

Official sources said that a police team headed by SHO Thanamandi, Javed Malik under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi, Mohammad Siddique during naka intercepted a mini- truck No. JK11C- 3972 being driven by  Mohammad Iqbal, son of Nazir Hussain,a resident of Lah in Thanamandi.

During checking , ten bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle after which vehicle was seized and bovines rescued. The driver of the vehicle has also been arrested.

The naka party also intercepted Tata Mobile No. JK11B- 3316driven by  Mustafa Ahmed, son of Mohammad Shafi, resident of Rajdhani in Thanamandi area and found ten bovine animals loaded in it.

The vehicle was seized on the spot and driver arrested while 10 cattle were rescued.

Two separate FIRs have been registered in Police Station, Thanamandi in this connection.
